Barrels in the General Store

A barrel located in Orwell Corner General Store.

The barrels in the general store were used to carry wine, juice, rum, and sometimes tea. Merchants and storekeepers used these barrels to ship goods on boats and trains. They were also for sale in the general store as containers used to store goods.

The Pot Bellied Stove

This is a stove that was in a typical 1900's General Store. The pot bellied stove looks very stylish and is not expensive. It is small and has a very fashionable look. It is very neat and is used to heat buildings, rooms or homes. The stove sits on 4 scrolled feet and it is 1/2 metre long. The pot bellied stove costs less than $3.00 and today, it would be above $10,000.00 because of the shipping, the cost of the style and the materials.
