Context: How Did People Travel in PEI in 1900?
Submitted by tiffanyh on Fri, 02/29/2008 - 13:34.
Some types of transportation that people used on PEI in the late 1800's and early 1900's were horses and buggies, carriages, sleighs, trains, ice boats, horses, walking on foot, and bicycles. Some methods of transportation, like ice boats and sleighs, were only used in the winter. Others, like horses and buggies, bicycles and carriages, were only used in the summer. Still others were used in both winter and summer, such as trains and horses.

Submitted by tiffanyh on Wed, 01/09/2008 - 18:53.This picture is about a horse and carriage. This horse looks very strong. I think its color is brown, but the picture is black and white, so I cannot decide. I think the horse's purpose is to pull the cart, and that someone sits in the cart. The period of this picture was July, 1938. That's a long time ago!
