Ladies' Cashmere Stockings

Advertisement for ladies cashmere stockings at Stanley Bros., Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Appeared in the Examiner, 23 April 1898, page 3.Ladies' Cashmere stockings were sold at Stanley Brothers. This store was located on P.E.I., and it was also a General Store. The particular types of stockings sold were Llama, Silk Finished and Linen Spliced. The stockings were made out of long English spun yarn. They also came in colors such as black and grey. The stockings were sold for 40c, 50c, and 68c per pair. The store was a pretty popular store because a lot of women wore these stockings to keep their feet and legs warm, especially in winter. These stockings would have been worn when young ladies went to school and also when ladies went out in public or anywhere. The ladies also probably wore them when they went to weddings.
