Train Crossing Swamp

Image shows a train near Howlan, Prince Edward Island, ca. 1910. This is a photo of a train crossing by a swamp. Its purpose was to transport passengers to their destination.

Trains are usually made of steel or iron. The trains' fuel would be coal. They were used from the 1870s to the present day.

This train is hauling freight; it's going at a speed of 30-45 miles per hour (Mph). Now they go up to 150 Mph. The train fits in to daily life well; they have gotten faster and can hold more people. They were the most common way of transportation in the 1800's and now are making a comeback against the car!
