A Page of Toys from Holman's Catalogue

Holman's Spring and Summer Catalog, No. 36, 1925. Image depicts page 71, showing dolls and other toys.

This is a page of the Spring/Summer Holman's Catalog from 1925, Catalogue #36. I am using this picture because it shows the differences in prices back in the 1900's. It shows different dolls and toys that were popular in the early 1900's. Most dolls had real hair, with kidaline or porcelain heads and arms. When dolls were bought, they had one outfit with them, then young children would either buy or make new outfits for their dolls. Young girls also liked having tea-parties with their dolls. A set of play dishes usually cost about $0.35. Young children loved playing house. They used to play reins on a play horse, too, like they were farmers. They also played with jump ropes, Parcheesi, The Donkey Game, Steeple Chase, Checkers, Crokinole, Dominoes, drawing slates, Old Maid, and other card games.
