Boy's Sailor Suit, Orwell
Many families in the 1900's got their pictures taken. They had so very little back then, but treasured their family and loved ones. This is a young boy's sailor suit from the 1900's that I found at the Orwell Corner general store. It was popular to dress up when a picture was taken, with the sailor suit as a long time favorite. It was even better to have your portrait painted. It showed that you had money and time to spend, which most families didn't have. A solution for this was to have your picture taken and painted over.
