Bicycles from the 1890s

Advertisement for "Perfect" and "Garden City" bicycles, sold by W. E. Dawson. Appeared in the Guardian newspaper, 1 June 1895, page 3.This picture shows an old bicycle. Bikes were used to help people get around. This bike was sold by W.E. Dawson in the 1890's. I got this clipping out of a newspaper (the Guardian) at the Public Archives. This bike is about 100 years old.

Back then, bikes were not a lot of money compared to today. It would cost about $40.00 to $50.00 for an ordinary bike, but a very good bike would cost $60.00. It was hard for people to make money back then. They would work all day and make very little money.
