The Bicycle Built for One
Submitted by nickj on Thu, 12/13/2007 - 13:30.
The bicycle built for one was built for only one rider. It was faster than all the other bikes made from 1875 to 1900.
This bike, the Columbia, was sold by Geo. J. Rogers. Most of the bikes you see today are for one rider. This picture is from the newspaper, the Guardian, from 1895.
(Editor's note: Bicycles built for two were popular back then.)
