Three Children

Portrait of three unidentified children (two girls, one boy). The children, possibly siblings, are seated on a bench and the boy is between the two girls. The girls may to be twins.
This picture is about three children sitting on a bench. The two on the sides are girls and the child in the middle is a boy. They seem to be outside of their school. (Editor's note: The photo could also have been taken in the photographer's studio against a backdrop.) The girls are both wearing ribbons in their hair. The girls and boy may be wearing school uniforms or perhaps their good clothes. The children might have gotten the fabric at a general store and then made had their clothing made at home, or they could buy it ready-made at a city store.

Children who went to school in the late 1800s or early 1900s would probably have had only a few dresses or pairs of pants. The children who lived in the country probably went to the school closest to their farm. Children who went to school in uniforms probably lived in a city.

This picture was taken in the early 1900's or the late 1800's.
