A Family Car

Frank Tuplin and family, seated in automobile, outside their Summerside home, 1913. Image appears on page 134 of R. Allan Rankin's book, "Down by the Shore: A History of Summerside, Prince Edward Island (1752-1945)". Image appears to be the work of H. Reid Studio.

This photo shows Frank Tuplin and his family outside their house in Summerside around 1913. This would have been one of the earliest families to have a car. There are about six people in the car.

I'm assuming the family had a lot of money because they had a car in the third year they were allowed on P.E.I., and the family has a large house. Frank Tuplin made his money in a way unknown to me, though.
