OpenSim Connection Information

Connection Information
To connect to this online virtual environment, you must first download the Second Life client. Upon download, there are some minor configuration changes on the client side. Once completed you can log in with the provided login information (below). The following steps will guide you through this process:
- Installation and connection instructions:
- Windows:
- Download and install the Hippo Viewer OpenSim Client
- Open Hippo Viewer and Click on the GRIDS icon
- Click ADD and enter the following information
- Login URI: http://137.149.66.236:8002
- Platform: OpenSim
- Grid Nickname: Living Archives
- Grid Name: Living Archives
- Login Page: http://livingarchives.ca/virtual_island
- Website: http://livingarchives.ca/virtual_island
- Click Apply, click Default at the top, click OK
- Log in with user information below (continue to Step 3)
- Download and install the Hippo Viewer OpenSim Client
- Mac:
- Download and install the Second Life Client for your Operating System
- Go to your applications folder and ctrl click on the Second Life icon and choose Show Package Contents
- Navigate to contents -> resources -> arguments.txt
- Add this on one line:
-loginuri http://137.149.66.236:8002/
- Save and run the application (go to STEP 3)
- note: you will not be able to connect to normal Second Life again until you remove this line from arguements.txt
- Download and install the Second Life Client for your Operating System
- Windows:
- Login with the one of the following logins:
- First Name: User1
- Last Name: User1
- Password: password
- First Name: User2
- Last Name: User2
- Password: password
- First Name: User3
- Last Name: User3
- Password: password
At this point you should be logged in, it will take a few seconds for everything to load.
To help items load faster: Once the application has connected, click Preferences, then click on the Network tab.
- On the network tab, drag the maximum bandwidth slider to 150. Click OK.
Use your mouse and the following keys on your keyboard to move around:
- W: forward
- A: left
- s: backward
- D: right
- E: fly
- F: stop flying
- Page-up: Fly up
- Page-down: Fly down
