The hat box was an oval shaped box that you would put your top hat in. The hat box had a leather outside with a cotton inside, and it also had a leather strap with a brass buckle.

Men's Hats
Submitted by matthewh on Thu, 11/08/2007 - 15:07.This is an advertisement by D. A. Bruce from the Charlottetown Examiner, September 10th, 1907. Men's hats could usually be bought at the general store and different types were worn when you were going out somewhere like a wedding or a business meeting. Hats had a brim curved slightly on the sides. Silk hat bands with metal buckles are usually around the top of the hat. There was a silk lining around the brim edge.

Ladies' Hats

Back in the 1900's, ladies would often wear hats. Hats were fairly expensive. For that reason, a lady wouldn't buy a new hat for every season. Instead, she might just buy a new ribbon for it. Ladies would wear their hats to special occasions, such as weddings or church.
