Image identified as a peddler's horse and buggy on Main Street in Souris, Prince Edward Island, ca. 1940s. A car can be seen parked behind the horse and buggy.The peddlars were people who went door to door selling their goods. Some travelled by wagon and others went on foot. The peddlars who travelled on foot were called pack peddlars.

License cash book, 1871-1881. Image depicts page 81 and shows a list of Hawkers and Peddlar's Licenses issued in 1881. Licenses were sold for $5.00 each. The license book records the names of individuals who received a license and in some cases includes nationality or country of origin.
This is a list of people who got a Hawkers and Peddlars License in the year 1881. The licenses came into use after peddlars became too popular.
